Q10. Can one install Kalingastone Engineered Marble just like natural marble with seamless joints?
The international installation guidelines recommend a minimum 3-5 mm grout after each tile and an expansion joint of 6 – 8 mm after every 5 metres. However, we can install Kalingastone Engineered Marble with seamless joint, but we have to take some precautions e.g. :
  • (a) Provision of 10 mm gap below skirting and to insert a suitable backer rod to accommodate thermal expansion of the product.
  • ((b) For seamless joints we recommend to fill matching epoxy (Transparent Resin + Matching Pigment i.e. marble powder + Hardener).

In seamless joint concept, to make the levels meet, the flooring may be required to be re-polished.
In large area like shopping mall flooring or big Hall etc, an expansion joint of 6 – 8 mm is recommended after every 5 metres.

Yes, you can install our Kalingastone Engineered Marble in a large expanse, but apart from provision of prescribed gap of 10 mm below skirting, you are required to have a provision of expansion joint of 6 – 8 mm width at every 5 metres, in which you will provide a suitable backer rod and Silicone Sealant to accommodate thermal expansion of product.
